Purgatory thy name is Hotel Gym.
I travel for my “day” job (not as much as some people, thank goodness).
The minute I know I’m going someplace, I start googling studios and gyms to make sure I can keep my workout schedule going.
Business travel can be grueling and I’ve found finding a familiar fitness studio can be a simple trick to make you miss home less and give you a chance to get away from your coworkers.
(I mean, don’t get me wrong. I like who I work with but after 10-12 hours days we usually need a break from each other).
Sometimes I get lucky and travel to a place that has an abundance of fitness options (oh hi Washington DC and Nashville which were my last two work trips).
And then other times I’ll be in a place where fitness options are less than ideal (looking at you rural Wisconsin).
Even if you’re stuck with a sad hotel gym, there is some hope!

ClassPass is an app that allows you to sign up for a monthly membership so you can take classes at different studios. The best part of the app is that you can “flex” your membership and find studios in different cities. I know a lot of studio owners have issues with ClassPass but for class takers it’s one of the best options out there.

In full disclosure, this app is stupid expensive in terms of apps ($19.99/month) but it’s my absolute favorites so I overlook the price.
The app offers different options for working out (gym, home, etc_) along with stretching and cardio workouts. It offers modifications as well which makes it nice if you aren’t at a certain level yet.
To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the yelling that happened on the Biggest Loser but this app changed my mind about Jillian Michaels.
I found it while I searching the iTunes store and the 4.6 stars of 1000+ people gave me the confidence to try it.
This is one of my favorite apps for traveling and home. With nutrition, recipes, workouts, and advice this app has quickly become my go to.
This app offers body weight exercises that help you easily target different parts of the body. It’s awesome for arms, legs, and overall. I use this app when the hotels I stay at don’t offer gyms and I’m relegated to my hotel room.
If you’re like me, traveling screws your schedule all up (I have no idea why but getting up early while traveling for work is torture!).
This 7 minute app is perfect for when you only have the stamina to eek out 7 minutes of working out.
